Buffalo, NY Partners Announce FinnFest USA 2015

FinnFest USA 2015 Buffalo’s co-chairs Cindy Abbott Letro and Catherine Schweitzer are pleased to announce that FinnFest USA 2015 chose Buffalo, NY to host this year’s FinnFest USA celebrations. Co-chair Cindy Abbott Letro said, “Every day that we have been working on this conference some new Buffalo-Finnish connection pops up. We may not have a large Finnish population, but the connections via art, culture, business and education are everywhere”.

FinnFest USA embraces the autumn in Tucson

When the FinnFest USA festival idea was first dreamed up in Minneapolis in 1982, everyone was thinking “summer festival.” And the first festival, held in August, 1983, was indeed a summer festival. Only three times have FinnFests drifted into other times of the year. A November date has never been on the radar. We are discovering, as we plan, that our programming can rightfully engage in some new topics and approaches just because it’s November.

TUCSON TO BE SITE OF THE 2012 FINNFEST USA FESTIVAL

Tucson, Arizona will be the site of the next FinnFest USA Festival. The festival dates, November 8-11, 2012, will permit the festival to commemorate Martti Ahtisaari Day, an official day now in Finland, a day that Finns use to honor and consider the subject of international peace mediation. For FinnFest USA, International Peace will become the theme of the 2012 FinnFest USA festival.
